The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism has announced to take actions against travel agencies which are unregistered or have reached the expiry dates of their registrations.

The announcement was made through a notice signed by Deputy Secretary of the ministry Mirza Murad Hasan Baig and issued by Tourism-3 department of the ministry yesterday (7 May).

According to the notice, travel agencies will not be able to run their businesses without collecting registration certificates and renewing the expired registration certificates following Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) Act 2013, Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) (Amendment) Act 2021 and Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) Ordinance 2022.

Through the notice, the civil aviation ministry urged the travel agency owners to submit applications for their registration on the online travel agency management system (www.regtravelagency.gov.bd) of the ministry immediately.

The ministry has also called upon the travel agents to renew the registrations of their agencies immediately if their registrations have expired, said the notice.

Strict legal actions will be taken through mobile courts and other measures against the unregistered, expired travel agencies following Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) Act 2013, the notice added.
