Suspected kidnapper, detained by locals, turns out to be notorious terrorist 'Shooter Riaz'
Police said Riaz has at least 20 cases against him, including murder.

A man detained by villagers in Sylhet over suspected child abduction has been identified as Riazul Islam, also known as "Shooter Riaz", chief of the notorious "Riaz Bahini" terror group from Narayanganj.
The incident occurred around 4pm today (3 September), when residents apprehended Riaz in front of the house of Shribas Chandra Das in Alirgaon village. After a brief beating by locals, he was handed over to the police.
Police said Riaz has at least 20 cases against him, including murder, and is considered one of the top terrorists of Rupganj, Narayanganj.
Gowainghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Tariqul Islam said, "Riaz is a top terrorist who had previously escaped a police checkpoint in Gowainghat using a private car."
He was previously arrested by RAB-3 in 2022, during which authorities recovered three foreign pistols, three magazines, 12 rounds of ammunition, five sharp domestic weapons, a motorcycle, and 600 pieces of yaba tablets.
The police confirmed that further legal action will be taken against Riaz.
