Child dies from smoke inhalation as fire breaks out in adjacent house in Ctg

A child died due to smoke inhalation when a fire broke out at an adjacent house in the Dabua area of Raozan Upazila in Chattogram in the early hours of today (9 March).
The fire broke out at around 1:30am in the Gani Haji Bari area of Paschim Dabua village.
The deceased child, identified as Mohammad Faisal, 12, was a student of BRC Ideal Kindergarten in Raozan Sadar.
Confirming the death, Shamsul Alam, in charge of the Raozan Fire Station, said the fire broke out in the residence of Md Musa, Md Yusuf, and Md Idris Miah, reportedly originating from their kitchen stove.
"The flames spread rapidly, generating intense heat and thick smoke that reached a nearby two-story building. Two firefighting units arrived at the scene around 1:45am and worked tirelessly to control the blaze. By the time they managed to extinguish the fire, three houses had already been burnt down," he said.
Meanwhile, Faisal, who was sleeping in an adjacent building, fell unconscious due to smoke inhalation, he added.
"He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead," he said.
