Chhatra Dal and ‘Rucsu for Radical Change’ hold joint press conference for free and fair elections
The joint press conference proposed a coordinated framework among several panels to ensure a credible and impartial election process.

Chhatra Dal's panel and the "Rucsu for Radical Change" panel, backed by Chhatra Odhikar Parishad and Chhatra Federation, held a joint press conference yesterday, calling for a free, fair, and acceptable student union election in Rajshahi University.
The conference took place at the campus transport market at 4:30pm. Chhatra Dal's vice-presidential candidate, Sheikh Nur Uddin, and Rucsu for Radical Change's VP candidate Mehedi Maruf presented a twelve-point demand aimed at ensuring transparency and fairness in the upcoming election.
The demands include using transparent ballot boxes unveiled before voters and agents, providing high-quality indelible ink, publishing voter lists with photos within a day, manual vote counting, capping campaign expenses, limiting posters per panel, ensuring agent presence during ballot printing and numbering, providing adequate polling booths, displaying live voter numbers on digital boards, enforcing cyberbullying regulations, banning certain university-centric groups and pages involved in harassment or misinformation, and restricting access to voter lists on election day.

Sheikh Nur Uddin, in a written statement, said concerns about the election commission's preparedness since the schedule announcement have created uncertainty and raised questions about impartiality.
He alleged that some student groups have violated the code of conduct by distributing gifts and providing preferential treatment to influence voters.
He emphasised the importance of holding the upcoming Rucsu election after 35 years without malpractice.
"We seek a transparent, fair, and acceptable election that restores proper democratic processes and ends long-standing stagnation," he said.
