Chattogram Port to go fully digital by February: Chairman
He has stressed the need for technological advancement in port operations
Chattogram Port is set to achieve full digitalisation by February 2026, Port Chairman Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman said yesterday (27 September).
Speaking at an event last night, Moniruzzaman stressed the need for technological advancement in port operations, emphasising that complete digitalisation is essential to enhance efficiency, transparency, and global competitiveness.
The World Maritime Day celebration was organised by the Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers Association (BMMOA) at the Navy Convention Center in the city.
The event was presided over by BMMOA President Captain Anam Chowdhury, with Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr Md Ziauddin present as the special guest.
Video messages from the Director General of the Department of Shipping and the Managing Director of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation were also shared during the program.
As part of the celebration, the Bravery Award and Excellence Award were conferred upon individuals for their distinguished contributions to the maritime sector. Bravery Awards were given to Captain Amir Md Abu Sufian, Captain Md Zahirul Islam, and Captain Md Farhan Ullah Ansari, while Captain Mohiuddin Abdul Qadir and Naval Engineer Md Golam Sarwar received the Excellence Awards.
The event was also attended by Bangladesh Shipbreakers and Recyclers Association President Amjad Hossain Chowdhury, Bangladesh Inland Container Depot Association Director Kamrul Islam Majumder, and former board member of Port Serve International Limited Khairul Alam Sujan.
