Dr Jahangir Alam took charge as Chattogram Civil Surgeon after the political change in 2024. He has been removed from the post and made OSD after serving for around two and a half years.
During his tenure, various allegations were raised over the recruitment examination for 171 posts, including health assistants, under the Chattogram Civil Surgeon's Office.
The allegations included candidates not receiving SMS notifications on time, confusion over filling out OMR sheets, and questions over the publication of results within a few hours of the examination. The issue also drew criticism on social media.
Asked whether the allegations were related to his transfer, Chattogram Divisional Health Director Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told The Business Standard, "We have no information about the allegations. However, he has been made OSD and attached to the Directorate General of Health Services in Mohakhali.
"The government can transfer any official at any time in the public interest. He served as Chattogram civil surgeon for around two and a half years."
