CFA Society Bangladesh elects new board for 2026-28 term
Their two-year term will commence on 1 July 2026 and continue until 30 June 2028.
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society Bangladesh has elected a new board of directors for the 2026-2028 term at its 11th annual general meeting (AGM) held on Thursday.
The AGM brought together investment professionals from across the country to review the organisation's annual progress and reaffirm its commitment to strengthening professional standards in the financial sector.
The newly elected board members were announced by nomination committee chair Minhaz Zia. The board includes Kazi Monirul Islam, chief executive officer of Shanta Asset Management; SM Galibur Rahman, head of research and strategic planning at Shanta Securities; S M Samiuzzaman, senior portfolio manager at UCB Asset Management; and Saad Niamatullah, manager at LafargeHolcim Bangladesh.

The society also honoured outgoing board members Iqbal Hossain and Kazi Raquib-Ul Huq for their contributions during their tenure.
Speaking at the event, President Asif Khan presented an overview of the society's activities over the past year, highlighting progress in member engagement, advocacy initiatives, and continuing professional development programmes. He also emphasised the organisation's growing role in promoting ethical practices and enhancing technical expertise among finance professionals.
Treasurer Kazi Raquib-Ul Huq presented the audited financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2025, underscoring the society's commitment to transparency and accountability.
Following the AGM, a continuing education session titled "Bangladesh's Power Sector: Policy Direction, Energy Security, and Sustainable Growth" was held. The session featured insights from Mohammad Tamim and Imran Karim, and was moderated by Mahtab Osmani.
Speakers discussed key challenges facing the energy sector, stressing the need for regulatory clarity, long-term planning, and greater private sector participation to ensure future energy security. The discussion also highlighted the society's efforts to bridge financial analysis with sector-specific policy issues
