Chattogram City Corporation receives Tk100 crore from Ctg port as overdue tax

Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) has paid Tk100 crore to the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) as arrears tax today (16 April).
The cheque was handed over to Mayor Shahadat Hossain by the CPA Chairman Rear Admiral SM Muniruzzaman at its Tiger Pass office.
Mayor Shahadat said, "Currently, we are providing more than Tk70 crore of subsidies annually for education and health, which are the basic rights of city residents."
"After taking charge, we emphasised increasing revenue collection to keep such services of the city corporation operational. We are lobbying the ministry regarding the collection of municipal tax from the port. With the support of the ministry and the port authority, receiving this Tk100 crore will enable the city corporation to improve its communication system as well as increase its citizen services."
Port Member (Harbor and Marine) Ahmed Amin Abdullah, Secretary Md Omar Faruk and Chief Revenue Officer Sarwar Kamal, Chief Accounting Officer Humayun Kabir Chowdhury, among others, were present on the occasion.
