Candidates backed by BNP in Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) election did not manage to win at any ward.

Moreover, at Kazir Deuri Govt Girls' Primary School center adjacent to BNP party office in Kazir Deuri area, BNP mayoral candidate Dr Shahadat Hossain got only one vote!

Results coming from several other centers have shown the same picture across the city corporation area.

The landslide win of AL candidates is marred with allegations of vote-rigging from BNP.

BNP's mayoral candidate Dr Shahadat Hossain Wednesday accused that BNP's election agents were being kicked out from the centres.

Earlier on Thursday Election Commission Senior Secretary Md Alamgir claimed that 'good election' was held everywhere except a few centers in the CCC poll.

Regarding the BNP's allegations about the vote, the secretary said the returning officer would look into the allegations at the local level. "Even then, I will present the complaints to the commission," he added.

Awami League candidate Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has been unofficially elected as the mayor of Chittagong City Corporation after his landslide victory in CCC polls.

He defeated his nearest rival, BNP candidate Dr Shahadat Hossain, by a margin of 316,759 votes.
