Casino kingpin Samrat hospitalised with chest pain

Samrat was sent to the Keraniganj Central Jail on October 5 as he was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for illegally keeping animal hides

Casino kingpin Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat has been admitted to National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) as he felt chest pain today morning. 

Deputy Jailer of Dhaka Central Jail Mohammad Jahangir Islam said, "We brought Samrat at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital at 7am as he was suffering from severe chest pain.

After examining Samrat, doctors advised to transfer him to NICVD."

When contacted, NICVD Director Professor Dr Afzal Rahman said: "We have kept Samrat in close observation."   

Earlier, Samrat was sent to the Keraniganj Central Jail on October 5 as he was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for illegally keeping animal hides.

Samrat was arrested from Cumilla's Chauddagram for his alleged involvement in running casino business at sports clubs in the capital. He reportedly made a move to flee the country through Cumilla border. 

He was expelled from as Jubo League (Dhaka South) president on the same day for violating disciple of the Awami league front organisation.
