BYLC held virtual roundtable on World Youth Skills Day

Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC) recently hosted a virtual roundtable discussion styled 'World Youth Skills Day 2020: Fostering Resilience in Youth in the Covid-19 Era'.

The roundtable was jointly moderted by BYLC founder and president Ejaj Ahmad and Dhaka Tribune Editor Zafar Sobhan.

Prominent industrial leaders participated in the discussion focusing on how the youths can be trained in times of crisis. They also proposed ways to meet the skills required in a rapidly changing world.

Speakers focused on the changing nature of the post-coronavirus workplace, skills essential for making youth employable, expectations from job providers, and bridging gaps in the existing education system. 

"BYLC is committed to transforming the quality of leadership and professional skills of youth in Bangladesh. We hope that by arranging a timely and important dialogue on how youth employment opportunities can be increased through skills development, we can raise awareness and inspire action among different stakeholders," said Ejaj Ahmad.  

The speakers of the virtual roundtable included - Nahim Razzaq, Member of Parliament (MP), Md. Aminul Islam Khan, Secretary, Technical and Madrasah Education Division, Ministry of Education; Dr. Syed Ferhat Anwar, Director and Professor, Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka; Yasir Azman, CEO, Grameenphone; Maliha Quadir, Managing Director, Shohoz; and Sylvana Sinha, Chairman & CEO, Praava Health. BYLC graduates Munzereen Shahid, Head of Human Resources at Robi 10 Minute School and Maisoon Binte Tariq, Merchandising Executive at Unilever, represented the youth perspective at the roundtable. 

Dhaka Tribune served as the media partner of this event.
