Buildings constructed without design approval to lose utility connections: Rajuk chairman
He also revealed that Rajuk has identified 3,382 buildings with faulty designs and is actively working on rectification

Buildings constructed without following approved designs will face disconnection of utility services and heavy fines, warned Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) Chairman Engineer Md Reazul Islam.
"Non-compliant building owners will first receive a warning. If they fail to comply, utility connections will be severed. Persistent violations may result in the building being sealed and criminal charges being filed, if necessary," he said during a public exchange of views at Nazneen School in East Rajabazar, Dhaka today (19 April).
Sharing his background in the private sector, Reazul Islam emphasised that the government has entrusted him with the responsibility of making Dhaka more livable, a task he is committed to carrying out with integrity and zero tolerance for building code violations.
He also revealed that Rajuk has identified 3,382 buildings with faulty designs and is actively working on rectification.
Abu Sayeed Mohammad Kamruzzaman, CEO of Dhaka North City Corporation, also spoke at the event, highlighting mosquitoes and garbage as major urban challenges.
He said the city corporation is also addressing waterlogging, and road and sidewalk maintenance.
He announced that Rajuk and the city corporation will now collaborate closely to enhance public services.
Officials from Rajuk, Dhaka Wasa, Dhaka North City Corporation, electricity and gas departments, and local residents attended the meeting.
