The upcoming national budget for FY2025–26 will be designed to be investment- and business-friendly, keeping in mind the spirit of the July 2024 uprising, current global economic challenges, and Bangladesh's upcoming LDC graduation, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has said.
The FBCCI made the remarks during the 45th meeting of the Consultative Committee of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), held in collaboration with the key stakeholders at a five-star hotel in the capital today (30 April).
The meeting commenced around 11am, with Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed attending as the chief guest.
The consultative meeting brought together key stakeholders from the government and business community to exchange views and share proposals regarding the upcoming national budget for the fiscal year 2025–26.
Speaking at the event, FBCCI Administrator Md Hafizur Rahman said, "Given the current global economic challenges and domestic pressures, stakeholders have high expectations from the interim government regarding the next budget."
He said FBCCI believes the upcoming budget must be investment- and business-friendly, taking into account the spirit of the July–August 2024 mass movement, ongoing global financial uncertainties, and Bangladesh's forthcoming graduation from the LDC category.
"The focus will be on restoring confidence in business and trade through consistent policy support," Hafizur added.
