BTRC hands over licences to Starlink
The licences are valid for a 10-year term

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has officially handed over two licences to Starlink Services Bangladesh Ltd, enabling the company to operate internet services via Non-Geostationary Satellite Orbit (NGSO) satellites in the country.
The licenses, the 'Non-Geostationary Satellite Orbit Operator Licence' and the 'Radio Communication Operators Licence', were handed over this afternoon (29 April) at the BTRC headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Following prior government approval, BTRC's Licensing Division issued the NGSO Operator Licence, allowing Starlink to begin its commercial operations in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, the Spectrum Division issued the Radio Communication Apparatus Licence, authorising the use of specific frequency bands for internet service, as well as the import and use of radio communication equipment.
Both licences are valid for a 10-year term.
Lieutenant Colonel Syed Md Tawfiqul Islam, director of BTRC's Licensing Division, handed over the first licence to Rebecca Slick Hunter, director of Global Licensing and Market Activation at Starlink.
The second licence was handed over by Md Sohel Rana, director of the Spectrum Division.
Yesterday, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus approved the licence for Starlink to operate in Bangladesh, a mandatory step before the BTRC could issue the licences.
