BSF returns cattle after 3 hours of detention at Akhaura border

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) returned 8-10 Bangladeshi cattle after detaining them for about three hours at the Akhaura border in Brahmanbaria today (15 June).
According to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local sources, the incident occurred in the Kalikapur area when local residents took their cattle near the barbed wire fence to graze.
The animals reportedly crossed into Indian territory, prompting BSF personnel on patrol to warn the locals to remove the cattle. Around 10am, BSF members seized 8-10 cattle and tied them up near the border fence.
Lt Col Md Ziaur Rahman, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-60, said, "Over the past few days, cattle have strayed into Indian territory due to grazing near the zero line of the border. The BSF had issued warnings regarding this. Today, some cattle crossed the line again and were detained, but BGB managed to get them back through discussion."
The cattle were returned around 1pm, BGB officials confirmed.
The BSF also issued a warning not to let cattle graze across the border in the future.
