BSD (Marxist) submits proposals on reforms to consensus commission

The Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist) today (23 March) submitted its proposals to the National Consensus Commission on key recommendations from five reform commissions.
A delegation of the party, led by its coordinator Comrade Masud Rana, handed over the party's proposals to commission's Vice-Chairman Prof Ali Riaz.
"The government has decided to implement 111 proposals before holding a dialogue with political parties. The majority of these proposals pertain to reforms in political party registration rules, on which there is already party-wide consensus. However, we believe that the remaining proposals require further discussion, as some of them go against the public interest," Masud Rana said in a statement.
In a letter to the commission expressing its stance on the proposals, the party stated, "In our letter dated 20 March 2025, we emphasised that seeking consensus by simply collecting opinions through tick marks in a spreadsheet is not an appropriate approach.
"These issues are complex, and most require detailed explanations—very few can be answered with a single word."
The party stated that it believes a consensus on these proposals should be reached through thorough discussions with political parties.
Additionally, it said the methods for implementing these proposals should be included in the consensus.
