A general diary has been filed over the alleged disappearance of a relative of Biplob Chandra Boidya, a Bhola resident who found himself at the centre of mayhem that led to four deaths and hundreds of injuries.

Convener of Bhola unit Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council and district Jewellery Owners' Association Secretary, Abinash Nandi confirmed that Biplob's brother-in-law Bidhan Mojumdar, 35, and his employee Sagor, 18, have been missing since Monday afternoon.

Bidhan owns a jewellery business named 'Ma Jewellers' in the Char Fasson upazila of Bhola.

"I was told that a group of people came to Ma Jewellers in a microbus on Monday. The group claimed to be from Jamuna TV, and took Bidhan and Sagor away for an interview. We have no idea where they have been since then," said Abinash Nandi.

The officer-in-charge of Dularhat police station, Mizanur Rahman Patwary, said Bidhan's father Binoy Bhushon Mojumdar filed the general diary.

According to the general diary, Bidhan left home for his jewellery shop with his employee on Monday, and they have been missing since then.

On Sunday, four people were killed and hundreds injured in Borhanuddin upazila in clashes between the police and local people who were demanding punishment for Biplob. Local people claimed that Biplob had hurt their religious sentiment in a Facebook post.
