BAPA FoodPro Int’l Expo begins tomorrow

The 10th Bangladesh Agro Processors Association (BAPA) FoodPro International Expo 2025 is set to begin on Tuesday.
The event will take place at the International Convention Center Bashundhara in the capital. The expo will continue until February 27. The BAPA and Rainbow Exhibition & Event Management Services organised the event.
This information was shared during a press conference on Sunday at the Economic Reporters' Forum office in Dhaka, said a press release yesterday.
The three-day expo will be inaugurated by Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin. The guest of honour at the opening ceremony will include Italy's Ambassador to Bangladesh Antonio Alessandro, Charge d'Affaires of the Netherlands Embassy in Bangladesh Andre Kerstens and Commercial and Economic Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh Song Yang.
The expo will run daily from 10am to 7pm. Over 200 companies from 22 countries will showcase their products and services at the event.
There will be panel discussions at the expo.
Alongside this expo, two other events will also be held: the 12th Agro Bangladesh Expo 2025 and the Food Ingredient Expo 2025. The expo will be open to all.
At the press conference, Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, chairperson of the Expo Committee, and chairman and CEO of Pran-RFL Group, said, "Our country's agro-processing sector is doing exceptionally well. This sector not only works towards ensuring food security in the country but also contributes significantly to the economy by earning a large amount of foreign currency through the export of products."
BAPA President Md Abul Hashem said, "Since its inception, BAPA has been tirelessly working for the development of the food processing sector. The main goal of BAPA is to ensure the continuous growth of this sector and to move forward in line with international standards. In this era of globalisation, no sector can progress without ensuring the use of emerging technologies. Therefore, BAPA is always vigilant to ensure that Bangladesh does not fall behind in this sector. By promoting the development and overall coordination of the food processing sector and its related industries, BAPA is working to accelerate the country's economic growth."
He further said, "Currently, BAPA has 479 members, who export processed food products from Bangladesh to over 145 countries worldwide. The contribution of the agricultural sector to the country's GDP is 22%, and the contribution of the processed food sector is 2%. BAPA has expressed hope that by 2027, the export value will rise to 2 billion US dollars."
Chanmohan Saha, managing director of Rainbow Exhibition & Event Management Services Limited, said, "The remarkable success of this expo, which has been held 9 times previously, along with the participation of various international and domestic organisations and the unprecedented response from visitors, makes us highly optimistic about the success of this year's expo."
Md Iktadul Haque, general secretary of BAPA, Minhaj Ahmed, treasurer, and other members of BAPA were present at the press conference.
