Bangladeshi man injured in BSF firing at Satkhira border

A Bangladeshi resident near the Lakshmidari border in Bhomra Union under Satkhira District, was shot by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).
The incident occurred today (4 August) in the early morning and the deceased was identified as Alamgir Hossain, 40.
Ismot Ara, the sister of the injured, told the Business Standard, "It was raining at night. He [Alamgir] went to the fisheries located near the border canal. BSF interpreted it as smuggling and shot at him.
Milon Rahman, commander of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion-33, said, "He went to the no man's land to catch fish from his fisheries. BSF shot him. He was taken to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for treatment in the morning."
