Nomination submission deadline for national polls expires today

The deadline for the submission of nomination papers for the upcoming national election is set to expire at 5pm today (29 December).

According to the EC's Central Coordination Committee formed for the 12 February election, a total of 3,144 nomination papers had been collected from 69 returning officers to contest the polls in the country's 300 constituencies till yesterday, following the election schedule announced on 11 December.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin that day announced the schedule for the 13th general election and the July Charter referendum, to be held simultaneously on 12 February.
According to the election schedule, the deadline for the submission of nomination papers is today, while the scrutiny of nomination papers will be done from tomorrow till 4 January.
The last date for the withdrawal of candidature is 20 January. Election campaigning will start on 22 January and continue till 48 hours before the balloting period or 7:30am on 10 February.
