Bangladesh moves to create database of overseas experts to support national development
The database will include expatriate Bangladeshis and people of Bangladeshi origin working as scientists, professionals, academics and industrialists, with the aim of increasing their contribution to the country's development.
Bangladesh has begun creating a database of expatriate Bangladeshi professionals, researchers and academics to help utilise their expertise for the country's industrial and technological development.
A notice issued by the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Bangladesh in Vienna said the initiative is being implemented under the Research and Development component of the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP) of the Ministry of Finance.
The database will include expatriate Bangladeshis and people of Bangladeshi origin working as scientists, professionals, academics and industrialists, with the aim of increasing their contribution to the country's development.
The embassy has called on eligible individuals residing in Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia to register by 12 June 2026 by submitting their professional information through a Google Form or via email.
Officials said the initiative seeks to strengthen links with overseas Bangladeshi talent and encourage greater participation in research, innovation and industry-focused development activities.
Interested participants have been asked to provide their name, workplace, designation, field of expertise and contact details, including address, email and mobile number.
