Khamenei killing in targeted attack 'a violation of int'l law and norms': Bangladesh
The government has extended heartfelt condolences to the people of Iran.
The Bangladesh government has said that it is saddened to learn that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was assassinated in a targeted attack, describing it as "a violation of international law and norms".
In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (2 March), the government extended heartfelt condolences to "the brotherly people of Iran".
The release added that Bangladesh believes conflict brings no solution and that only dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international law can resolve disputes.
Khamenei, 86, was killed on 28 February in air strikes by Israel and the US that pulverised his central Tehran compound, after decades of efforts to resolve the dispute over Iran's nuclear program diplomatically failed.
