Authorities will provide PPEs to journos, law enforcers, hopes HC

The High Court expects media companies and law enforcement agencies to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to journalists and to law enforcers during their duty hours amid this coronavirus situation.

A High Court (HC) bench of Justice Md Ashraful Kamal and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir made the comment during the hearing of a writ petition. However, they did not pass any order against this writ.

Lawyer JR Khan Robin stood for the petitioner and Deputy Attorney General Pratikar Chakma stood for the state.

Earlier on March 23 a Supreme Court lawyer had filed a writ petition at the High Court seeking proper protective gear for journalists and law enforcers in this coronavirus situation when they are on duty.

Lawyer JR Khan Robin filed the writ at the relevant division of the High Court for public interest.

In response to another writ on March 22, the HC passed an order to collect and provide PPEs speedily to doctors, patients, nurses and other affiliated people in hospitals to prevent coronavirus spread.
