Auditors demand removal of grade discrimination
They said they will not return to work until their demands are met
Auditors under the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) have called for an end to grade discrimination demanding the elimination of pay-grade disparity and the upgradation of their positions from grade 11 to grade 10.
During a press conference at the National Press Club today (15 September), the auditors also demanded the resignation of Awami League officials working in the CAG office, including the current finance secretary.
Ahmadur Rahman Dalim, speaking at the event, accused the finance secretary of trying to undermine the interim government by rendering the Audit and Accounts Department ineffective. He argued that having two different salary structures for the same position is unjustifiable.

Dalim urged the authorities to address these issues ethically and responsibly. He highlighted that a High Court ruling on 2 February 2016, had mandated the upgrade of posts within the CAG office and its subordinate offices from Grade 11 to Grade 10. However, only 61 litigants have been promoted, with the rest still pending.
He added, "We are not seeking any protests; our goal is to return to work and have the post of 'Auditor' implemented in Grade 10 as soon as possible, as per the court's decision."
The protesters said they will continue their programme until their demands are met.
