Road transport and bridge minister Obaidul Quader's younger brother and Noakhali's Basurhat municipality mayor Abdul Quader Mirza alleged that attempts are being made to kill him.

Mayor Mirza made the allegation at a press conference at the Basurhat municipality office at 10:30 am on Saturday.

He claimed, "On Friday, they planned at MP Ekram's house to kill me."

He said, "A few days ago, more than 200 shots were fired at the Basurhat municipality office to kill me. Some 10-12 of my leaders and activists are still undergoing treatment in Dhaka. The administration is constantly harassing my supporters and activists."

The Basurhat mayor added, "I will request the Prime Minister to investigate the murders of journalist Burhan Uddin Muzakkir and CNG driver Ala Uddin through Information Minister Hasan Mahmud and Central Leader Sujit Roy Nandi."

He also called for a judicial investigation through the intelligence agencies NSI and DGFI.

"If the investigations prove that I or any of my activists are guilty, we will accept the due punishment," he added.
