ASK congratulates Asaduzzaman on appointment as law minister

The human rights organisation Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) has welcomed the appointment of Md Asaduzzaman as the minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs in the newly formed cabinet.
Asaduzzaman, a senior lawyer of the Supreme Court and former attorney general, previously served as general secretary and an executive committee member of ASK. He has long been recognised as an active and dedicated human rights defender, said an ASK message signed by ZI Khan Panna, chairperson of the organisation.
For more than three decades, he has worked to protect human rights, uphold the rule of law and ensure justice. He has conducted numerous significant public interest cases to safeguard citizens' constitutional rights, making an important contribution to strengthening human rights in the country.
His professional integrity, legal expertise, experience and strong commitment to human values will help further strengthen the nation's legal and judicial system, according to ASK.
The organisation hopes that during his tenure as minister, he will play an effective role in promoting human rights, justice and the rule of law, and in making access to justice easier for ordinary people.
ASK expressed optimism that his leadership will make a positive contribution to democracy and constitutional values in Bangladesh.
