The Anti-Discrimination Students Movement has suspended its Jashore Member Secretary Jasina Morshed Prapti over allegations of organisational misconduct.

Jasina was suspended via a letter signed by Hasnat Abdullah, the organisation's central convener, and Arif Sohel, member secretary, yesterday (4 February), said Rashed Khan, the convener of the organisation in Jashore.

The letter said some organisational misconduct related to the recent formation of the upazila committee has come to the attention of the central committee.

"In light of this, the position of Jasina Morshed Prapti, the member secretary of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Jashore unit, has been suspended," the letter added.

It also instructed Jasina to appear in person before the inquiry committee within three working days.

A leader of the organisation, seeking anonymity, said allegations of financial transactions were raised against Jasina regarding the formation of the committee of Jashore's Jhikargachha upazila.

"Besides, allegations of financial transactions have been raised against her for distributing posts in the committee in different upazilas. A written complaint signed by 58 leaders of Jashore was sent to the central leaders of the organisation. Based on that complaint, two central leaders recently came to Jashore for investigation."

The leader of the student body said Jasina's post has been suspended as the allegations were initially proven.

Jasina could not be reached over the phone for comment on the matter.

On 26 November last year, the 101-member committee for the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement's Jashore unit was approved by the central committee with Rashed Khan as the convener and Jasina Mursheed Prapti as the member secretary.

The committee was approved for six months. However, nine leaders resigned from the committee within a week, holding a press conference and posting statuses on Facebook.

They made several allegations, including the rehabilitation of Chhatra League leaders and activists on the committee.

According to sources at the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, the activists of the student body in Jashore divided into two groups after 5 August.

The division still exists, with one led by Rashed Khan and the other by Jasina Mursheed Prapti, said the sources.
