Ansar-VDP’s inclusive journey towards skills development and self-reliance

The Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP), Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, visited the Ansar-VDP offices in Dinajpur, Rangpur, and Nilphamari districts under the Rangpur Range today.
During his visit, he inspected various ongoing training programmes and emphasised the importance of inclusive initiatives aimed at empowering Santals and the youth community through skill development and social engagement.
As the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the "VDP Basic Training (Santal)-2025" held at the Dinajpur district Ansar-VDP office, the Director General praised the programme's efforts to integrate marginalised ethnic groups into mainstream development activities. A total of 132 VDP members from indigenous communities received security and skill-oriented training under this initiative. Certificates were distributed among participants by the Director General.
Also present at the event were Mr Md Abdus Samad, Rangpur Range Commander; Mr Md Rafiqul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of Dinajpur; and Mr Md Marufat Hussain, Superintendent of Police, Dinajpur.
In his speech, the Director General stated, "Our training programmes are not confined to law and order alone, but also contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic upliftment of underprivileged communities. VDP members can play a crucial role in anti-drug campaigns, voluntary social movements, and entrepreneurship, leading to greater self-reliance."
Later, the Director General visited the Rangpur district Ansar-VDP office, where he observed the ongoing "Youth Leadership and Digital Marketing" training course. The programme includes sessions on effective social leadership, cybersecurity, technology-driven entrepreneurship, and cybercrime prevention—equipping youth with modern, practical knowledge for digital engagement and economic participation.
During the visit, he held discussions with training officials, reviewed administrative frameworks, and enquired into the morale and development of members. He emphasised the importance of capacity building among Ansar and VDP personnel to enhance their contributions to national needs.
According to officials, the Director General's visit has significantly inspired enthusiasm, a sense of duty, and renewed commitment among the members in the districts concerned.
