All involved in assaulting policeman in Patenga arrested: Home ministry

Police arrested all of those involved in the incident of beating up an on-duty police sub-inspector (SI) at a checkpost on Patenga Outer Ring Road in Chittagong city on 28 February, said a home ministry statement.
In this connection, the ministry has warned everyone not to take the law into their own hands.
The government is determined to bring those involved in every mob incident to justice, the statement said.
On the day of the incident, the crowd immediately handed over two individuals involved in assaulting SI Yusuf Ali.
On a tip-off, a team of Patenga police station patrolled the beach area, and the locals rescued Sub-Inspector Yusuf Ali.
In an overnight raid on Saturday (1 March), police arrested 10 more people involved in the incident.
With the latest additions, a total of 12 people were arrested over the incident.
A case was filed under the Speedy Trial Act with the Patenga Police Station in this connection.
The arrested persons are involved in creating panic in the Patenga Sea Beach area and snatching mobile phones, wallets, and walkie-talkies from SI Yusuf Ali.
The assailants are also involved in robbery, the statement added.
