9 TBS journos honoured for reporting during July uprising
The TBS awardees are Senior Staff Correspondent Kamran Siddiqui; Staff Correspondents Md Jahidul Islam, Shakhawat Prince, Md Belal Hossain, Tousif Kaium; Photojournalist Rajib Dhar, and Mehedi Hasan; Multimedia Reporter Jony Raihan; and Narayanganj Correspondent Sabit Al Hossain.

Nine journalists from The Business Standard have been honoured for their coverage during the July uprising 2024.
The award, presented by the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust, recognised the reporters' dedication, integrity, and courage while performing their professional duties from 1 July to 5 August last year.
Out of over 400 journalists who applied from across the country, 192 journalists were selected and awarded for their bravery and service during the uprising.
Among them were nine journalists from The Business Standard, who made a significant contribution through reporting, multimedia, photojournalism, and field reporting under pressure and risk.
The award ceremony took place today (3 August) at the DFP Auditorium in Dhaka.

The awardees received a crest, a certificate, and a monetary prize.
One of the awardees, Md Jahidul Islam, and Rajib Dhar, who were injured during the coverage, expressed gratitude for the recognition.
"This award reminds us why journalism matters. Telling the truth during a time of fear is not easy—but it's our duty," they said.
The event was graced by Information Adviser Mahfuz Alam, who handed out the awards as the chief guest. He praised the journalists for their commitment to truth, even when working under dangerous and uncertain conditions.
"Journalists are the bridge between people and power. Their courage during a crisis reflects the strength of democracy," Mahfuz said.
Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Ministry of Information Additional Secretary Kawsar Ahmed attended the event as special guests. The programme was chaired by Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust Managing Director M Abdullah.
Prominent media and government officials, including Press Information Department Information Officer Nizamul Kabir, Department of Mass Communication Director General Faizul Haque and Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) Director General Faruk Wasif, were also present at the ceremony.
The Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust has pledged to continue supporting journalists who show integrity and courage in the line of duty.
