Tk26 thousand fined to these shops.
A mobile court fined Tk26 thousand to nine shops in the capital's Kawran Bazar today (23 February) over offences including overpricing of goods and failure to display price lists.
The mobile court was led by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Executive Magistrate Shah Md Zubayer and Directorate of National Consumers' Rights Protection Assistant Director Sikdar Shahinur Alam.
Speaking to reporters, Zubayer said, "The mobile court aimed to raise awareness among traders. For public interest, traders have been verbally warned to refrain from irregularities."
RAB-2 Deputy Commander Squadron Leader Nifaz Rahman said the operation was part of a regular awareness activity and it was aimed at preventing the sale of adulterated food and overpricing.
"Those involved in such practices are being brought under legal action. Similar operations will be continued in the future," he added.
