The appointments were formally made on Monday through the signing of contracts under a special decision of the port authority, according to an office order issued by the office of the Chief Personnel Officer of Chattogram Port Authority (CPA).
The order said the gazetted "July warriors" have been appointed as "training service assistants" or "assistants" across different departments, based on operational needs.
Those appointed are Arabi Md Al Miraj, Md Sakil, Md Meheraj Hossain, Mahbubul Alam, Md Shefatul Kader, Saiful Islam, Md Tarek, Md Amir Hossain, and Md Ibrahim.
They will be assigned duties at several key wings of the port, including the Chattogram Port Training Centre, the administration department, the marine department, the marine engineering department, the electrical department, the hydrography department, the finance and accounts department, the planning department, and port-affiliated educational institutions.
As per the order, departments will submit monthly attendance sheets to the administration department, which will prepare service bills and send them to the finance and accounts department.
Speaking to The Business Standard, CPA Chief Personnel Officer Md Nasir Udin said the nine July Warriors were appointed on a temporary basis for one year following applications submitted by them.
"The CPA board made the appointment decision. They will receive their remuneration or service charges in line with the government's outsourcing policy," he said.
