8-ft-long python rescued from paddy field in Sharankhola, released into Sundarbans

An eight-foot-long python, weighing 10 kgs, was rescued from a paddy field in Rajeshwar village under Sharankhola upazila of Bagerhat today (20 April).
The python was later released into the Sundarbans with the permission of the Forest Department, officials said.
Alam Hawlader, a field facilitator from the local wildlife team, rescued the snake after it was found entangled in a fence net in the field at noon.
"After an alert from locals, we rescued the eight-foot-long python. Following the advice of officials from the Sharankhola Range of the Sundarbans Forest Division, we released it in the Dhabhori area of the forest," Alam said.
Rana Dev, range officer of the East Sundarbans' Sharankhola Range, confirmed that the python was safely released with the assistance of forest guards.
He also urged residents living near the forest to stay alert and report any similar wildlife sightings.
