The arrestees are Imam Hossain alias Akash (25), his younger brother Hossain (19), Sonia Akhter (24), Sumaiya Akhter (24), Asma (28), Munna (22), and Rabbi alias Chhoto Akash (19).

According to police, last night, a group led by Imam's younger brother Hossain attacked the police escort with sharp weapons while Imam was under treatment at CMCH. Constable Delwar Hossain, assigned to guard the accused, sustained stab injuries during the assault. The attackers then managed to snatch Imam from custody and fled the hospital.
Earlier that day, Imam and another man, Shahajahan Hossain (25), had been caught by locals near the Bandar CPR Gate area while allegedly robbing a Chinese national at knifepoint. The mob handed them over to Bandar Police after beating them up.
Both men were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment under police escort. After receiving primary care, Shahajahan was moved back into police custody, while Imam remained admitted.
That night, Imam's associates launched the attack at the hospital and snatched him from the police.

Police later arrested Asma from the CMCH area; Munna and Sumaiya Akhter from Patenga's Kathgarh area; Imam Hossain and Sonia Akhter from a Sitakunda highway checkpoint; and Hossain and Rabbi alias Chhoto Akash from Akmal Ali embankment under EPZ police station.
