7 burnt in Savar gas cylinder blast

Seven people, including a child, sustained severe burn injuries after a gas cylinder exploded reportedly due to leakage in Savar's Hemayetpur.
The incident took place in Naliashur area of Hemayetpur this evening (23 February).
The injured are Jisan, 20, Soleman, 18, Shilpi, 40, her son Sajib, 7, Halima Akter, 40, Amena Begum, 60, and Sujat Molla, 27. Locals said all those injured were relatives.
Locals said the incident occurred when the family members attempted to open a locked room from which a gas odour was emanating.
According to local resident Md Akash, as the lock was being broken, an explosion occurred, causing burns to those nearby.
Neighbours rescued the injured and transported them to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar for treatment, he said.
"We received seven burn victims, including women and children, who are currently receiving treatment," said Palash, duty manager of Enam Medical College Hospital.
