5 more murder cases filed against Sheikh Hasina

Five more murder cases were filed on Tuesday (27 August) against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in connection with the killings during the student-led mass uprising that ousted her government on 5 August.
Two of the cases were filed with the Mohammadpur Police Station, and one each with the Demra, Jatrabari, and Mirpur police stations.
One of the cases involves the killing of Mansur Mia, a motor machine operator at Buriganga Filling Station in Mohammadpur's Bosila area, who was killed during protests on 19 July.
Mansur's brother, Aynal Haque, filed a complaint on Tuesday in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury, accusing 22 people, including Sheikh Hasina. The court directed the Mohammadpur Police Station to handle the case.
The other accused in the case include former road transport Minister Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former law minister Anisul Haque, former prime minister's private industry and investment adviser Salman F Rahman, former textile minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak, former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, former state minister for information Mohammad Ali Arafat, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, and several police officers.
In another murder case in Mohammadpur, 16 people, including Sheikh Hasina, have been named as suspects, along with 80 unidentified individuals.
Additionally, a separate case involves the killing of Miraj Hossain, who was shot in Sanarpara, Demra on 5 August. His brother, Khorshed Alam Mia, filed a complaint in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Belal Hussain, accusing 94 people, including Sheikh Hasina. The court has directed the Demra Police Station to handle the case.
Other defendants in this case include former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, former IGP, former DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman, and former DB Chief Harun Or Rashid.
Meanwhile, another case has been filed involving the killing of an HSC second-year student Md Nahidul Islam from Mirpur-10 in the capital. The case names 41 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
Md Sobuj, the brother of the victim Nahid, filed a complaint on Tuesday in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mehedi Hasan. The court has directed the Mirpur Police Station to handle the case.
Other accused in the case include Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Dhaka South City Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, his brother Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, former MP Ilyas Uddin Mollah, Jubo League General Secretary Mainul Islam Khan Nikhil, Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain, Chhatra League leader Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, Riaz Mahmud, former IGP, former DMP Commissioner, and former DB Chief and police officer Biblop Kumar Biswash.
Moreover, 41 people, including Sheikh Hasina, have been accused in a case involving the death of Dulal, a bus helper of Thikana Paribahan in Kajla, Jatrabari, Dhaka, during the protests.
Mustafa Kamal, Dulal's brother, filed a complaint in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hussain on Tuesday morning. The court accepted the plaintiff's statement and directed the Jatrabari Police Station to handle the case.
Other accused in the case include Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former MP Shamim Osman, Shamim Osman's son Ayan Osman, Ramesh Chandra Sen, Asaduzzaman Noor, Moshiur Rahman Molla Sajal, Saddam Hossain, Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, and Sajal Kundu.
