43 sacks of cash found in Pagla Mosque donation boxes, counting underway
The 13 donation boxes were opened at around 7am today
Authorities have begun counting cash collected from the donation boxes of Kishoreganj's historic Pagla Mosque after 43 sacks of money were found when the boxes were opened today (27 June).
The 13 donation boxes were opened at around 7am. Counting was still underway as of 11am.
The counting process is being carried out by members of the mosque management committee, teachers and students of the madrasa and orphanage located within the mosque complex, and officials and employees of Rupali Bank.

The donation boxes were opened after 182 days. Although the boxes are usually opened every three months, the process was delayed this time due to the installation of two additional donation boxes.
Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner and president of the Pagla Mosque Management Committee, Sohana Nasrin, said the money recovered from the donation boxes filled 43 sacks.
She said the total amount collected would be known after the counting process is completed.
The donation boxes were last opened on 27 December last year. At that time, Tk11.78 crore was found inside the boxes. Foreign currencies and gold ornaments were also recovered.
