4 killed as truck loses control, overturns after entering a Rajshahi banana market
Four people were killed and another injured after a sand-laden truck lost control, entered a market area and overturned in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi this morning (1 January).
The accident occurred at Jhalmalia Bazar around 7:45am when the truck was travelling from Rajshahi to Natore. Puthia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mozzammel Haque said the truck veered off the road, crashed into Kola Haat (banana market) and overturned, killing four people on the spot.
The injured person was rescued and taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for treatment. Two units from Puthia and Natore fire stations carried out the rescue operation after being informed of the incident.
The deceased were identified as Siam, son of Shahin Ali of Kafuria village in Natore Sadar; Munker Pramanik, son of Akkel Pramanik of Paikpara village; Sentu, son of Saiyam Uddin of Salainagar village in Bagatipara upazila, Natore; and Islam Uddin, son of the late Mahatab Ali of Askarpur village in Charghat upazila, Rajshahi.
The injured person is Rayhan Ali, son of Abdul Jalil Uddin of Khutipara village in Puthia upazila.
