Police have detained four youths for threatening a Coca-Cola dealer in Narayanganj.
The incident took place this afternoon (8 April) on Nitaiganj Nalua Road in the city, Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Nasir Ahmed confirmed to The Business Standard.
The detainees are Sharif Raiyan, 24, Jahir, 30, Reyad, 37, and Sujan, 18, said the OC. "They are all residents of the Muslimnagar area of Fatullah."
"Amid the ongoing protests over the recent Israeli issue, some opportunists are attacking and looting various establishments. Similarly, a group went to a Coca-Cola warehouse and made threats. Upon receiving the information, the police detained four people red-handed," said the OC.
Asked if a case will be filed in this incident, he said, "The Coca-Cola dealer is preparing a case. However, their political identity has not been confirmed. They may have used the names of different parties to instill fear. Efforts are being made to get detailed information about them."
Citing the dealer, the police said that 6/7 youths entered the warehouse of local Coca-Cola agent 'The Jamal and Company' in the city's Bappi Chattar area at noon.
They reportedly introduced themselves as leaders and activists of the Tarique Zia Prajonmo Dal, which the BNP, in a statement issued on 3 March, declared as a fake organisation.
At one point, they threatened to destroy all types of Coca-Cola drinks stored in the warehouse.
