Three people were beaten and their microbus was vandalised by a group of angry locals after an alleged autorickshaw snatching attempt in Munshiganj's Sreenagar this morning (4 March).

The incident occurred at around 11:30am in the Sholghar area of Sreenagar Upazila, confirmed Sreenagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shakil Ahmed.

Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene, rescued the injured and sent them to the Upazila Health Complex. The three alleged snatchers were identified as Jewel, 40, Bachchu, 35, and Hafiz, 60.

According to locals, the microbus first hit a battery-powered autorickshaw on KC Road in the Khaiyagaon area. When the autorickshaw stopped, a passenger from the microbus got out, forced the autorickshaw driver to get down, and started fleeing with the vehicle. The other two alleged snatchers tried to flee in the microbus as well.

As the autorickshaw driver shouted for help, locals chased the vehicles and managed to stop them in the Sholghar area of the Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga expressway. Then they proceeded to beat the three individuals and vandalise the microbus.

"A microbus hit an autorickshaw on KC Road, after which locals chased and stopped it, vandalising the vehicle and attacking three people inside. The injured individuals are currently being interrogated," said OC Shakil.
