Three members of the same family, including a seven-month-old child, were killed when the CNG-run autorickshaw they were on was struck by a speeding truck in Chattogram's Mirsara today (15 October).

Three others were injured, with one in critical condition.

The deceased have been identified as 25-year-old Kajal Rekha, her mother Nurjahan, 50, and Kajal's seven-month-old son, Anas.

All three were residents of South Bogachar village in Saidpur Union, Sitakund Upazila.

Sohail Sarkar, the in-charge of Jorarganj Highway Police Station, confirmed the incident, stating that the bodies were transported to the Upazila Health Complex.

After completing the necessary legal formalities, the bodies will be handed over to the family.

Highway Police sources said the family was going from Sitakunda to visit relatives when a speeding truck collided with the autorickshaw.

Kajal, Nurjahan, and Anas died at the scene.

Emergency responders from the Mirsarai Fire Service and Civil Defense arrived to rescue the others injured.

Station Officer Imam Hossain Patwari said three injured had been taken to a local hospital for treatment.
