3 cops withdrawn in Ctg gang rape
Three accused were arrested while another is still absconding
An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and two constables of Anwara police station were withdrawn allegedly for releasing one of four rapists in exchange of bribe following a gang rape incident in Chattogram's Anwara upazila.
"Assistant Sub-Inspector Omar Faruk and Constables Mohammad Riyaz and Mujibur Rahman were withdrawn on Thursday," said Mirza Mohammad Hasan, officer in charge of Anwara police station.
He said, "The three have been withdrawn from the police station and attached to Chattogram police line due to allegations against them. Legal action will be taken against them if found involved in the incident and negligence in their duties."

According to police and local sources, on 15 March, a teenage girl went for a walk on Anwara's Parki beach with her boyfriend Rocky. Then, three other young men along with the boyfriend Rocky allegedly raped the girl in Chatari Union of the upazila.
Sensing the presence of the patrolling police, three other young men ran away. ASI Omar Faruk caught Rocky along with the girl and took them to Kalabibi Dighi intersection area.
Later, the police officials allegedly released Rocky in exchange for Tk18,000 after two hours and took the girl to her home.
Immediately after the incident, the brother of the victim verbally complained to the Chatari union parishad chairman.
He told reporters that when he went to the police station to file a case. But the police officials attempted to resolve the matter in exchange for Tk1 lakh with mediation of Chatari Union Member Dhananjay Biswas Bhola.
"When we refused to resolve the matter in exchange of money, police picked up my sister and kept her in the police station overnight," he alleged.
Later on 18 March, a case was filed against four persons including Rocky.
Then, police arrested accused Palash, Shingpakar, and Chandan in this connection on 22 March. Rocky is still absconding.
