26,000 tonnes octane shipment arrives 15hrs late at Ctg Port amid rough weather
Earlier, two vessels delivered 26,000 tonnes on 8 April and 27,000 tonnes on 17 April
An octane shipment bound for Bangladesh arrived at the outer anchorage of Chattogram Port at 11am today (30 April), around 15 hours behind schedule, due to adverse weather conditions.
The Hong Kong-flagged vessel Qiu Hci, carrying 26,000 tonnes of octane from Malaysia, was originally scheduled to reach the port at around 8pm yesterday. However, rough seas and unfavourable weather slowed the vessel, and it eventually arrived today.
Nazrul Islam, managing partner of Pride Shipping Line, said the vessel could not maintain its expected speed due to the adverse conditions, resulting in the delay.
He added that unloading operations are also facing some difficulties due to the weather, and the vessel may be berthed on 2 May.
This marks the third octane shipment to arrive in April. Earlier, two vessels delivered 26,000 tonnes on 8 April and 27,000 tonnes on 17 April.
With a daily demand of around 1,250 tonnes, the total 79,000 tonnes of octane imported this month will be sufficient to meet the country's demand for more than two months, according to relevant sources.
