25% of the issues plaguing the health sector can be solved if the people associated with this sector decide to improve the existing system, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus said today (12 May).

He made the remark at the Civil Surgeon Conference held at CA's office in the capital.

"If we do things differently, then we will be able to do better amid all the lackings and shortcomings. People change when they ask why change is not possible. We have to ask ourselves, do we lack anything? Are we a failed nation?" Yunus said.

Stating that the government is struggling to meet the deficit in the health sector collectively, the chief adviser added, "Many will talk about policies, instruments, and other things. As we are not questioning anything, this deficiency will remain as a settled fact."

"The problems in the health sector won't go away if we complain about them. The problems need to be addressed to provide healthcare properly," he added.

During his speech, Yunus also said a huge change had happened in the country.

"Such things have happened in this country which may not be repeated in the next 1,000 years. Immense changes are possible if we get inside this tide," he said.

"The tide of change is in our hands. The old era is gone, a new era has come. We have a chance to bring changes, and we need to utilise this chance," said the chief adviser.

Stating that the previous era has vanished into thin air, Yunus said the countrymen need to erase from their minds that everything will continue as it was in the old days.

"We have come out of a cave after 1,000 years. The world does not work as per the caveman's mentality. The current time is a little window of opportunity. The whole world is watching over us. Now we will bring the changes," he said.
