2.4kg hilsa caught in Barguna, priced at Tk14,000
It remains unsold due to the high price as of 11am today

A hilsa weighing 2.4kg has been priced at Tk14,000 in Barguna, with the retail price set at Tk6,000 per kg.
The fish was caught by a local fisherman in the Bishkhali River near Dalbhanga in Barguna Sadar upazila last night (9 March) around 9:30pm.
The fisherman brought it to the Barguna fish market for sale, where fish trader Mizan auctioned it.
Md Nantu Molla, a fish trader, purchased the hilsa at Tk4,600 per kg from the wholesaler and later set a retail price of Tk6,000 per kg, valuing the fish at Tk14,000.
Due to the Bishkhali River hilsa's reputation for taste and aroma, the large-sized fish has drawn attention from buyers. However, as of 11am today (10 March), it remains unsold due to the high price.
"The price and demand of Bishkhali River hilsa are high. That is why I bought the fish from the wholesaler for sale," said Nantu Molla.
Humayun Kabir Liton, general secretary of the Barguna Fish Market Samabay Samity, confirmed that the fish was auctioned in the presence of wholesalers, with several traders participating before Nantu Molla secured the purchase.
