Gas supply to several parts of Chattogram will remain suspended for 24 hours due to pipeline diversion work, according to a notification issued by the Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited (KGDCL) today (29 April).

The outage will begin at 8:00am tomorrow and continue until 8:00am on Thursday.

The KGDCL stated that the disruption was necessary to facilitate the realignment and diversion of existing gas pipelines in coordination with a WASA development project.

According to the notification, the work involves the diversion of 10-inch, 6-inch, and 2-inch diameter gas distribution pipelines located near the western side of Koissya Pukur in Halishahar and adjacent to King Park Community Center at Baropol Intersection.

As a result, gas supply will be suspended in the following areas: Halishahar Chowchala Intersection, Abdur Gafur Sham Road, Chander Para, Dampara, Pocket Gate, Badamtoli, Gazi Omar Shah Mazar, Dhopa Dighi, Anand Bazar, Monir Nagar, Bakar Ali Fakir-er Tek, Kolshi Dighi, BGB Halishahar, Halishahar Cantonment, Abbas Para, Chowdhury Para, Sundari Para, Moinna Para, Naya Bazar, Shantibagh, Shyamoli Residential Area, Police Lines, Chotopol, Baropol, North Halishahar, Middle Halishahar, South Halishahar, Saltgola, New Mooring, and surrounding neighborhoods.

The KGDCL has apologised for the temporary inconvenience caused and assured residents that efforts are being made to complete the work as quickly as possible.

If the pipeline diversion work is completed ahead of schedule, gas supply may be restored sooner than announced.
