2 prisoners die at DMCH

Two prisoners, including a former BDR member, receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), died yesterday.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, confirmed the matter to the media.
The deceased are Shamsul Alam, 44, from Ulupara village in Sonaimuri upazila, Noakhali, and Sheikh Jobayer Hossain, 65, a former Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) member from Dargaipur village in Ashashuni upazila, Satkhira.
According to hospital and prison sources, Shamsul was admitted to DMCH on the instructions of prison authorities around 11am on 4 February due to illness.
He passed away at 2am yesterday while receiving treatment. He had been arrested in connection with a case at Noakhali's Chatkhil police station.
On the other hand, Sheikh Jobayer Hossain died between 3:30am and 4:30am on the same night. He had been admitted to the hospital around 8:30pm on 5 March.
Both bodies have been kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsies, said Inspector Md Faruk.
