2 foreign ships collide at Ctg port

A collision between two foreign-flagged ships occurred at Chattogram Port today (4 March) in the outer anchorage area.
"The Belize-flagged tanker MT RHINE collided with the Panamanian-flagged container ship YONG YUE 11 around 12:20pm," Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) Secretary Md Omar Faruk told The Business Standard.
"The impact caused the propeller of YONG YUE 11 to become entangled with the anchor cable of MT RHINE, resulting in partial damage to the container ship," he said.
He further said, "Following the incident, the port authority swiftly dispatched tug vessels Kandari 10, Kandari 4, BLV Lusai, along with a pilot vessel, to the site. A specialised team comprising experienced pilots and port employees successfully freed the container ship and moved it to safety by approximately 4:30pm."
According to CPA sources, port operations, including those at the outer anchorage, remain unaffected, and all activities are proceeding as usual.
