186 Bangladeshis leave Baku for Dhaka after evacuation from Iran
The flight is expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 1:30am on Saturday (21 March).
A total of 186 Bangladeshi nationals departed from Azerbaijan's Baku today (20 March) for Dhaka after being evacuated from Iran amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the evacuees crossed the Iran–Azerbaijan border by land before reaching Baku, from where they are returning home on a special flight operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
The flight is expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 1:30am on Saturday (21 March).
The ministry said the evacuation was carried out through coordinated efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, and Bangladesh missions in Tehran, Ankara, New Delhi and Geneva, along with Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
The government also expressed its appreciation to the governments of Iran and Azerbaijan, as well as the International Organization for Migration (IOM), for their cooperation in facilitating the repatriation process.
