16 of BNP’s 17 candidates in Ctg, 12 from Jamaat have assets worth crores
Many of the aspirants' assets range from several crores to over a hundred crores of taka
Most BNP- and Jamaat-nominated candidates of Chattogram constituencies own assets worth crores, with BNP leading the 'race' with 16 such candidates, while Jamaat has 12. Many of the aspirants' assets range from several crores to over a hundred crores of taka.
BNP candidates also have the highest number of cases against them. According to affidavit data, only two of the 17 BNP candidates have no cases. The remaining 15 candidates face a total of 366 cases, with 147 cases currently under trial.
On the contrary, 10 Jamaat candidates in 15 Chattogram constituencies have no criminal cases against them. The remaining five Jamaat candidates face a total of 203 cases, of which 22 are currently ongoing or under trial.
Aslam Chowdhury, BNP candidate for Chattogram–4, has assets worth about Tk457 crore and loans amounting to Tk1,700 crore. He faced 29 cases, of which he was acquitted in 19. His rival, Jamaat candidate Md Anwar Siddique has movable assets worth Tk43.84 lakh. He faced 29 cases, of which he was acquitted in 19.
BNP candidate for Chattogram–12 (Patiya), Mohammad Enamul Haque, has total assets worth Tk44.59 crore. He faces 32 cases, with 21 currently under trial, and loans amounting to Tk121.15 crore.
Jamaat candidate in the same constituency, Mohammad Faridul Alam's net asset is worth Tk12.15 crore. No cases or loans are listed.
BNP candidate for Chattogram–14 (Chandanaish), Jasim Uddin Ahmed, has assets worth Tk40.61 crore. He faces 11 cases, some still under investigation or trial. Jamaat candidate in the same constituency, Omar Faruk has declared assets worth Tk3.39 crore. He has no cases and a loan of Tk1.8 lakh.
In Chattogram–6 (Raozan) constituency, One BNP candidate, Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury, owns assets worth Tk25.79 crore. He faced 22 cases, five of which are ongoing. Another BNP candidate, Golam Akbar Khandaker's total asset is worth Tk36.36 crore. A loan of Tk27.8 crore from Union Bank is listed as stayed by the High Court. He has been acquitted in seven cases.
Jamaat candidate in the same seat, Md Shahjahan Manjur's worth is Tk2.12 crore.
In Chattogram–10 (Double Mooring, Pahartali, Khulshi), BNP-nominated candidate Sayed Al Noman owns total assets worth Tk34.77 crore. No cases are listed against him. On the other hand, Jamaat candidate Mohammad Shamsuzzaman Helali's total assets amount to Tk1.55 crore. He listed 47 cases, all shown as acquitted or withdrawn.
BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, who is running in Chattogram–11 (Port, EPZ, Patenga), has total assets worth Tk14.8 crore. He faced 35 cases, with one currently under trial.

On the other hand, Jamaat candidates who worth crores are: AKM Fazlul Haque — Tk7.73 crore, ATM Rezaul Karim — Tk4.7 crore, Md Abu Naser — Tk2.59 crore, Shahjahan Chowdhury — Tk2 crore, Mohammad Nurul Amin — Tk1.67 crore, Mohammad Alauddin — Tk1.66 crore, Mohammad Jahirul Islam — Tk1.27 crore, and Shafiul Alam — Tk1.10 crore.
